The meeting was called to order at 8:07 p.m.

WELCOME

Debbie Turano welcomes the membership.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

David Mussaw leads us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

MINUTES APPROVAL

D. Turano asks for the approval of the minutes.  Minutes are approved.

INTRODUCTION OF NEW VP OF EMPLOYEE/EMPLOYER RELATIONS & SECRETARY

D. Turano introduces Brian Hayden as the new VP of Employee/Employer Relations. 

D. Turano explains that Miriam Jauregui has decided to step down due to work in her area.  D.T. then introduces Ricky Gonzalez as the new Secretary.

Treasurer’s Report

Angie Gardea presents the treasurer’s report and asks the membership if they have any questions. Jimmy Macareno asks about the ‘Good and Welfare’ line in the report.  A. Gardea explains the expenses have been spent on charitable donations–she said she would look into it and would email him later.

L. Plum shares that Luukia Smith felt good about our stance in arbitration with the district.  Arbitrators will be preparing their reports

March 25, 2016

Meeting starts at 8:10 p.m.

Laurie Dawdy motions to pass the minutes.  Mark Ballard seconds the motion.

Treasurer’s Report

Lavonné Plum presents the report and asks if anyone has questions.  There are no questions.

Article 15

L. Plum explains what Article 15 is, shares that Luukia Smith and Gary Turner came out of that meeting feeling good about our stance in arbitration with the district.  Arbitrators will be preparing their reports—they have until March 30^th to submit the report.

TREASURER'S REPORT

The new fiscal year for the budget begins October 1st.  L. Smith informs the membership that the only expenses thus far have been food for the general membership meetings and travel expenses for Cindy Lopez to attend a conference.

Article 15

Gary Turner discusses arbitration and explains to the members that the Nov. 10th meeting was postponed to Dec. 17th.  He explains that the COLA has increased to 1.02% and albeit a small difference, it is clearly stated in the contract that the benefits cap should be increased based on COLA.
